Reports are circulating on Sunday morning that Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall will be going to the Sunshine State to take over at Florida.
According to ESPN College Football Reporter Pete Thamel, the Gators will give Sumrall a sweet deal to come to Gainesville, Fla., and lead the Gators.
“Florida is finalizing a six-year deal to make Tulane’s Jon Sumrall the head coach at an average of nearly $7.5 million per year, sources told @PeteThamel,” ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted on X on Sunday morning.
Sumrall led Troy to two straight double-digit win seasons before going to Tulane ahead of the 2024 college football season. In 2024, the Green Wave finished 9-5 and lost in the Gasparilla Bowl last bowl season.
This season, Sumrall has Tulane among the top college football programs in the nation with a 10-2 record.
Florida has been looking for its next head coach on a permanent basis after firing Billy Napier during the season.
