2027 4-star linebacker Quinton Cypher has committed to Ohio State. The North Carolina native held offers from 32 other schools, including Miami, Alabama, Georgia, and others.
Quinton Cypher is now the 8th recruit to choose the Buckeyes in the class of 2027. The class currently sits in 3rd place in the recruiting rankings. Other commits include Brady Edmunds, Angelo Smith, Jamier Brown, Eli Johnson, Kellen Wymer, Brody McNeel, and Mason Wilt.
Cypher currently attends Millbrook High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to football, the multi-sport athlete also runs track and plays basketball. Cypher had a very strong junior season, leading his team with 181 tackles, 48 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker has drawn comparisons to LSU linebacker Whit Weeks. Cypher is known for his ability to hunt down ball carriers and his ability in zone coverage.
Cypher put out his final four schools on Sunday, a list including Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, and Miami. A crystal ball prediction was then made in favor of the Buckeyes two days later. He was offered by the Buckeyes in August of last year and took a visit in October of 2024. When asked about his visit, he told Cleveland.com it was one of the best he had ever been on.
James Laurinaitis has been a key difference maker since joining the staff in Columbus last year. The linebacker duo consisting of Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese points to the development that Laurinaitis has been able to get out of his players. Both are expected to be selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Recruits are starting to take notice, and the Buckeyes are not done yet as they pursue more of the top recruits in the nation.
